I was able to make it work with a step up ring!

I found a used Canon 50mm f/1.8 lens, however, it has "II" at the end of it. Is that a newer version of the lens?

The actual name is Canon EF 50mm/f1,8 II.

How long is "longer than normal lenses"? Any example lenses you could link me to?
