The 2020 Golden Globe nominations are here. Do they feature any of your favorites? 

Winter, Summer, Spring, and Fall are all fine, but I'm more of an Awards Season guy.

We're rolling into the part of the season where the biggest red carpets roll out, starting with the Golden Globes, which will take place on January 5th and will be hosted by Ricky Gervais. 

The Golden Globes is unique in that it honors both motion pictures and television through votes made by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. Not to mention that the ceremony is frequently indicative of what might be honored on Oscar night.  

And now that the Golden Globes nominations have been officially released, we can get a better idea of which films and TV shows did well this year. Just a few thoughts...

Netflix is crushing the nominations thanks to The Crown, The Irishman, Marriage Story, and The Two Popes. 

Noah Baumbach’s Marriage Story led all film nominees with six, one better than  Martin Scorsese’ The Irishman. Somehow De Niro was not nominated, and that feels like a snub the Academy will rectify. Also, Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood got five nominations. 

No women in the directing category again?! Greta Gerwig had a ton of buzz around Little Women and Lorene Scafaria's Hustlers seemed like a surefire bet. Hard to see the Academy ignoring them as well. 

Finally, Watchmen and Game of Thrones were left out of the major television categories. Those feel like conspicuous misses but...here we are.
