Sending video, focusing a lens, or even using Camera to Cloud—our Deals of the Week has everything you need to join the cord-cutter revolution.
Rigging out your camera can lead to a mess of cables. Some of them may even have to run to other equipment, and that's just not safe. Getting wireless accessories hasn't always been the most affordable, but a few companies have taken up the mantle to provide budget filmmakers with all the solutions they need.
Check out all that we found below!
Hollyland Mars 300 PRO
This enhanced model of the Hollyland Mars 300 PRO HDMI Wireless Video Transmitter/Receiver Set features two external antennas on the transmitter and one spare. The transmitter provides a single HDMI input plus an HDMI loop-out for viewing on an onboard monitor, and the receiver provides two HDMI outputs. The transmitter features line-of-sight transmission up to 400' to the receiver and up to 300' to a Wi-Fi app. It can be powered via an L-series battery or USB Type-C input and simultaneously transmit to one receiver and two apps.
For the price, Hollyland offers an attractive alternative to budget rigs in need of wireless video.
Atomos Ninja V w/ Atomos CONNECT
While the Atomos Ninja V isn't initially capable of anything wireless, the inclusion of the CONNECT module expands your monitor/recorder with a Camera to Cloud workflow that allows you to upload proxy files to Frame.io or Dropbox. The monitor itself records and plays back up to DCI 4K and records to purpose-built mini-SSDs. It also records Apple ProRes RAW up to DCI 4K60 directly from the sensor of select cameras. Display features include a 10-bit screen with a brightness of 1000 cd/m² AtomHDR technology for accurate monitoring of your log gamma footage, and support for popular log formats from Sony, ARRI, Canon, JVC, Panasonic, Nikon, RED, Sony, and Z CAM cameras.
The whole kit is also under $1,000! That's an absolute steal.
ikan Remote Air Pro Wireless Follow Focus
The ikan Remote Air Pro Wireless Follow Focus Single-Motor Kit is designed to create a FIZ control unit based on your iOS device. This allows your mobile device, along with the downloadable app, to control the motors and display the lens information on your mobile device. Your iOS smartphone is clamped into the holder that includes the focus knob. The app provides the readout and allows you to control the iris and zoom motors using your phone's touchscreen.
The kit supports 20 user-selectable channels, so you can find a clean channel over which to control your motors. The kit includes an integrated hand control unit, three glow-in-the-dark marking rings, three antennas, a 15/19mm adapter ring, 6-pin D-Tap power cable, Lightning to USB connecting cable, PD Movie lanyard, receiver/master motor, USB charger, 4-pin USB charging cable, iPhone 6/6s/6 Plus/6s Plus clamp, and an iPod Touch clamp. While it's not the most affordable unit on the market, it's definitely uniquely versatile.
