These are the most visually pleasing movies and TV episodes of the year.
Production Design covers a lot of territory in the film landscape, and the nominees for this year's ADG Excellence in Production Design Awards truly run the gamut. From Beyonce's Lemonade to the deserts of Rogue One's Jeddah, 2016 saw a diverse and varied need for production designers. For that reason, this awards program is truly unique.
With categories like Best Period Film and Best Fantasy Film, The Art Directors Guild really break down the art by genre and form. This practice is entirely necessary in representing the achievements of a group of artists whose work is so rooted in genre itself. It's kind of a treat to see movies you wouldn't normally see throughout the awards season mayhem represented on this list. Sure, the usual contenders are still up there (see Manchester By The Sea, La La Land, etc.) but we also get the visually magnificent blockbusters Dr. Strange and Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
Game changing TV Shows like Westworld and Stranger Things also appear on the list. But you can be sure that the films represented here will be seeing nominations for design categories across the board when it comes time for Oscar.
