On-set safety is so incredibly important.

The accidental shooting on the set of Rust shocked all of Hollywood and the world. The tragic death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins was avoidable. Now, prosecutors are coming forward with charges.

Alec Baldwin, the actor who shot Hutchins during rehearsal, will be charged with involuntary manslaughter. Baldwin has maintained he was not aware the gun contained a live round and that he did not pull the trigger.

The same charges will also be brought against armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed. Gutierrez Reed has sued the gun and ammunition supplier, alleging there were live rounds mixed in with dummy rounds.

This will all have to be sorted out in court.

At the end of the postmortem investigation of the incident, it reads, “Review of available law enforcement reports showed no compelling demonstration that the firearm was intentionally loaded with live ammunition on set. Based on all available information, including the absence of obvious intent to cause harm or death, the manner of death is best classified as an accident.”

We'll keep you updated as this story continues to develop.

Classic case of North American everybody sue everybody - in our society seems there is no room for an accident. Honestly, who knows what actually happened there. But if there seems from all the witnesses there is no mal-intent on the set that to charge with manslaughter seems extreme. Well, I suppose someone has died - something legal has to get done in this case. Hopefully in court all the accurate facts will get exposed and everyone can go on with life.

From what's been released so far, the armorer bears 90% of the responsibility for the simple and obvious reason it was her JOB. No doubt, others should have been paying more attention, and if it's true that the producers ignored warnings then they bear the rest. Alec Baldwin is not an "action" movie actor. He's not experienced the way other actors might be, ones who have handled numerous guns in dozens of movies. Which again comes back to the armorer and overall production safety protocols. Who hands an actor calling out "cold gun" without actually checking the cylinder on the revolver you're holding? Sure, a more experienced actor would check on their own, and they wouldn't point it directly at a person, not even during the filming. It's tragic Baldwin didn't know to check, but that's not his fault.
