How to make a background like this?

Hi!
I really love the backgrounds and its colours in this music video.
I was wondering if it was a green screen with an effect, or an actual background of colour played around with lights?
Hope my question is clear.

Since there aren't any colored shadows I'm going to guess that it was not done with lights, but rather with a specially painted studio cyclorama background. No idea how you would paint this. ( suspect it's done via an automated paint system to give it that flat air-brush look )

I think green-screen would be too much work to get the edges and shadows perfect.
