Laowa Unveils a Super Tiny Wide Angle 10mm Lens for Micro Four Thirds

Laowa's new 10mm F2 Zero-D is part of its low distortion lineup.

If you're a Micro Four Thirds shooter looking for a small, wide-angle lens, Laowa has introduced the 10mm F2 Zero-D that's worth considering.

The 10mm F2 Zero-D joins the 9mm F2.8 Zero-D and 7.5mm F2 as Laowa's wide-angle options for MFT sensors. The benefit of the 10mm F2 is its low distortion which is ideal for video or taking stills of architectural interest.

Optically, it's designed from 11 elements in 7 groups with three pieces of extra-low dispersion glasses. When paired with a Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera or Panasonic GH series mirrorless, the 10mm focal length will provide a natural 96° angle of view. With full-frame, it's an equivalent focal length of around 20mm.

The lens is designed with a 49mm filter thread which gives additional portability for screw-in filters. Additionally, the manual focus lens is assembled with a CPU chip and motor which allows the adjustment of aperture via the camera body. The focus magnifier will be triggered for easier focusing when rotating the focus ring. The metadata will be stored on EXIF as well.

Weighing only 4.4oz (125g) it's ideal for gimbal or drone work as well. The suggested retail price is $399.
