It’s been a big week in the world of attachable LCD camera monitors. Fresh off the news of SmallHD announcing a new line of FOCUS Bolt monitors, RED has unveiled its own “Ultra-Brite” 7” LCD monitor to partner with its line of DSMC2 cinema cameras.

This RED DSMC2 Touch 7.0” Ultra-Brite LCD Monitor promises to be one of brightest LCDs on the market with 2,200 nits of brightness at 1920x1200 resolution to provide clear viewing in even the brightest of conditions.

As seen the introductory video above, the Touch 7.0” Ultra-Brite boasts a high pixel density at 323 ppip and a 1200:1 contrast ratio along with a “robust, optically-bonded touchscreen with Gorilla® Glass that provides the most intuitive way to navigate menus, adjust camera parameters, and review.”

This new LCD is built to mount directly to RED’s DSMC2 BRAIN or other 1/4-20 mounting surfaces with a LEMO connection to connect to your camera ideal for gimbals, cranes and cabled remote viewing.

Those thick bezels...Surprised they aren't trying to make their products lighter, thinner and less bulky overall. 2200nits is insanely bright though! The Atomos flagship 7" monitors are only 1500nits.

The only other ones I know of are the Small HD's Ultra Bright Monitors which also feature 2.200 nits. When they released it, they claimed the title as world's brightest monitor.
