is Resolve 14 a Better Editor Than Premiere Pro

Resolve is free to download and use. So give it a try on your next project and see if it works for you. I only have limited editing experienced, but I just dropped my Adobe sub and will be using Resolve and Fusion going forward.

If you do a lot of switching between Premiere Pro and After Effects, you'll want to stick with Premiere Pro.

If you do a lot of RAW grading, especially if you work with RED cameras, which continue to advance their own technologies and requirements faster than Adobe can keep up, you will greatly prefer working with Resolve.

At the end of the day, both are tools. They do not make art by themselves. If you have the time and patience to learn and master over 1000 pages of documentation (for either one!), you can create great things. But for me, where grading capabilities are as important as editing, Resolve gets the nod. If I made my money doing cool things with After Effects, I'd probably stick with Premiere (which is where I started, too).

I'm transitioning from FCP 7 to Davinci. Hate FCPX (much as I've tried to use it), Premiere looks good, but you can't beat free so I went to Resolve. Moving from FCP 7 to Davinci Resolve has been pretty painless. Similar interfaces and shortcuts. The biggest limitations with the free version is that resolution maxes out at UHD, so can't output cinema 4k, and h.264 performance is crippled versus the pro version.

Premiere Pro still has more pros than using resolve free

what about Sony Vegas anyone familiar with that software

Editing wise PrPro is better, for color grading resolve is better. But resolve is free and can do the job.
