Starting up a film festival
Hello! I have an idea to start a film festival in Eastern Europe, specifically in Serbia. I want to ask you, cinematographers - what do you think about filming in countries like Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia? Everybody knows that these countries offers a low cost production, and that they have beautiful landscapes, cities, architecture, and also a good and educated film crew.
My idea is to start an international film festival with a various workshops both for amatuers and professionals. It would be held in a old classical town near Novi Sad. This town can offer many beautiful locations with a wonderful architecture (from modern to classical), preserved nature beauties with rivers, mountains, hills and fields, and with a variety of social portraits in the surroundings.
My question is - would you come, submit film or participate into the workshop, and what is your standing point about this topic? Also, what would you love to see and feel here, and who would you love to see in the jury.
Thank you for sharing your experiences and thoughts with me and my crew!

I would definitely attend... If I had the money!! I myself have dreamed of starting a film festival in the town where I used to live. It would take a lot of time and help from other people. And probably money too!

Thanks for sharing this with us. Can you tell me what would be helpful for you from us as organizers?
We were thinking about co-operation with some airline, bus or train company so we can offer lower prices for the transport to our participants. The lowered price for the accommodation will be definitely arranged for the festival screeners, but maybe also for all guests, but I am not sure.
As concerned about fees, what would be your considered fee for application, workshop, seminar? Also, what would you like to learn trough workshops and seminars?
Thank you in forward for the answer!

Bojan, sorry I didn't reply to this sooner, I had not realized to replied to me. No Film School needs to get a notifications system going...
The reason my focus was money is I'm living in the United States and don't make enough to travel to Europe to shoot a film or attend a festival.
I would submit a film of my own to the festival, however.
I wouldn't know what to ask for regarding workshops or seminars, as I've never been to any film-related ones. Basically, whatever gets thrown together, I'll attend lol.
