The Golden Globes took place last night in Beverly Hills, California.
The 76th annual Golden Globe Awards are officially in the books. Having taken place last night at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills California, the three-hour-plus awards ceremony honored what the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) deemed the best from a prosperous year of film and television.
The ceremony was not without suprises: Glenn Close winning Best Actress - Drama for her performance in The Wife over Lady Gaga for heartbreaking turn in A Star is Born was considered a shocker, as was the late evening love for Bohemian Rhapsody, which picked up awards for Best Actor - Drama (Rami Malek) and Best Drama. Green Book's overall dominance, winning three awards in total including Best Comedy or Musical, was also considered a surpising contender on the evening. Sandra Oh, one of the evening's co-hosts, won a Globe for her performance on Killing Eve, and that moment was also somewhat of a shock, if not the least to the recipient herself.
Alfonso Cuarón won two awards on the evening (Best Director and Best Foreign Language Film), both for his work on the Netflix-distributed Roma, currently available to stream, while the end-of-year animated hit Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse took home the award for Best Animated Feature.
