Which titles did you watch at home?
While the COVID-19 barrier to seeing movies in theaters seems to have lessened as 2022 went on, many people still watched a lot of movies at home. But what were they watching? JustWatch polled thousands of people to dig into what the most streamed titles of 2022 would be.
They cover a wide array of new releases, TV shows, and direct-to-digital titles.
This year, hundreds of titles were released online, and a similar amount into theaters. That meant a lot of competition.
So let's see what came in on top.
Most Streamed Movies in 2022
As you can see from the chart below, Top Gun: Maverick was the most streamed movie, along with being the box office king. Then, comic book movies like The Batman, Thor: Love and Thunder, and Spider-Man: No Way Home took the next three spots.
One promising trend was Everything Everywhere All At Once, an indie with great word of mouth which did well at the box office and seems like it found even more people at home. Same goes with Nope, which did well at the box office and is another original idea.
Most Streamed TV in 2022
So what were people watching at home? It's no surprise that Stranger Things, which set records for Netflix, comes in at number one. There's a real battle between Netflix and HBO on this list, with House of the Dragon and Euphoria coming in the next two spots. Wednesday clocking in at four.
With Better Call Saul and The Walking Dead coming to an end this year, it will be interesting to see what takes their place next year.
What shows were left off that you think everyone should watch? Any surprises on the list?
